    I do occasionally experience dry eyes and a little scalp itch but asserting that it's caused by Hydrochloroquine would be anecdotal at best. It took about 5 weeks to take effect but my RA is basically a non factor now.

  6. Plaquenil is supposed to help with hair loss, not contribute to it. I would also suggest giving it some more time especially since the side effects of plaquenil are supposed to lessen after a few months of use.

    Plaquenil takes quite a long time to get to its peak effectiveness depending on what you read, anywhere from 3 months to a year. Unless you are having significant side effects, try to give it at least 6 months before you decide it doesn't work for you. Hydroxychloroquine doesn’t work immediately. It may be 12 weeks or longer before you notice any benefit. Because it's a long-term treatment it's important to keep taking hydroxychloroquine unless you have severe side-effects even if it doesn't seem to be working at first; even when your symptoms improve to help keep the disease under control. No methotrexate doesn't always mean your hair will fall out or thin but some of the side effects are scary, but before you an progress onto other meds methotrexate is mandatory. for me methotreaxte and plaquenil does't work and i' intonate of sulfa so i am started embrel which states you have to have tried 2 of 3 meds and methotrexate is 1 of them.
